Vendor Spotlight: Lovassion

What started as a passion project nine years ago has bloomed into a successful business offering hand-crafted necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings for all occasions. Lovassion is a female-owned, small business local to Toronto that focuses on creating unique and sustainable jewellery to be enjoyed all year round. How it All Began

Coming out of university, Ting Ting was unsure of her next steps and was searching for the right fit. During this time, the DIY trend was taking off and she started learning how to create wire rings. Happy with the results, she decided to take a leap of faith and make an Etsy account to sell her rings, not expecting to see anything from it. Within a month, she started receiving orders for her rings and was encouraged by the support to continue her endeavour with jewellery, eventually branching into bracelets, earrings and necklaces. From the beginning, Ting Ting has created, marketed, and sold her products on her own turning a passion project into a successful business.

The Product

Ting Ting handmakes necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets with unique meanings and intentions. She focuses on creating the type of jewellery she likes to wear - dainty, cute pieces with a focus on lightweight materials that are designed to withstand daily use (i.e. shower and heat-proof). When creating her jewellery, Ting Ting includes personalized quotes and poems to make each piece unique. She puts a special emphasis on creating jewellery that will be meaningful for her customers. She does this by creating customized products such as zodiac necklaces, jewellery that incorporates birthstones, or Morse code bracelets with special significance, reminding the wearer of their worth and power. When sourcing materials, Ting Ting focuses on her inspiration for the piece and works from there to ensure the materials used are relatable to that product’s unique meaning. She focuses on sourcing from local Toronto businesses, such as beading stores along Queen Street in Toronto, and prioritizes supporting other small businesses.

What’s to Come

It was that first sale on her Etsy page that encouraged Ting Ting to grow her passion project into a successful business. Today, she is looking towards the future and continuing to build on Lovassion’s success. She just started a men’s jewellery line and is interested in creating gender-natural pieces that can be enjoyed by everyone as well as starting a line of unique children’s jewellery. Ting Ting is focused on designing inclusive pieces that can be enjoyed by anyone and continuing to create unique, meaningful jewellery that carries special importance for each wearer.
