Imana Health is a women-owned and run business focused on improving women’s health one probiotic at a time. Founded in July 2022 by best friends and family doctors - Dr Duate Adegbite & Dr Nena-Rae Watson recognized a lack of long-term support for women who experience recurring yeast infections. They decided to take matters into their own hands, developing a single-strain probiotic that showed high rates of success in preventing recurrent yeast infections. They launched their first product - Muna in March 2024. Today, they’re focused on supporting women by continuing to create probiotics that target their health concerns. Where it All Began

As family doctors, Duate & Nena-Rae recognized a gap in support for women’s vaginal health. Patients who experienced recurrent yeast infections struggled to find viable long-term treatments that would prevent reoccurrences rather than simply treating symptoms. Together, they began researching alternative options and discovered that the combination of Vitamin D and Lactiplantibacillus Plantarum Rosella had a high rate of success in treating and preventing recurrent yeast infections.

The Product

Unlike most probiotics, which are multi-strain, Muna is a single-strain probiotic aimed at supporting vaginal health and immune function. The addition of Vitamin D is rare in a probiotic but a major asset for clients in Canada - many of whom are Vitamin D deficient unless currently taking supplements (even during the summer!). In their desire to make the product as accessible as possible, Imana prioritized creating a vegan, dairy-free, and gelatin-free probiotic without unnecessary added ingredients. Muna contains a single-strain of probiotic (healthy bacteria) and Vitamin D - simple ingredients with great results when it comes to treating yeast infections and improving vaginal health.

What’s to Come

While the company was founded in July 2022, it took two years to perfect the product and get it launched on the market. Imana Health is a passion project, born from a desire to create a product that can help as many people as possible. So far, the company has done just that, receiving 5-star reviews all around with many people experiencing great benefits in maintaining vaginal pH within a few days of taking the probiotic. At the moment, the team is working on a new and exciting product focused on the gut-brain axis. As they move forward, Imana plans to continue creating products aimed at supporting women’s health using simple, high-quality ingredients with a focus on accessibility and sustainability.
