Breathwork Specialist: Alicia Belvedere

Alicia Belvedere attended a breathwork class that changed her life forever. When asked what convinced her to alter the trajectory of her career after eleven years, she says that the questions she was left with after practising breathwork were too important to ignore. Rather than pursuing the practice on the side, she put all her time and energy into becoming a specialist. For Alicia, breathwork is a profound experience and as a specialist, she wants to help guide others through the process toward enlightenment. When advising those who are interested in specializing in the practice, Alicia recommends attending as many different breathwork classes as possible to ensure a broad education. There are different forms of breathwork with different end goals, but Alicia chose to educate herself on the varied practices to ensure a more in-depth understanding of the effects and benefits derived from each one.

While breathwork and mindfulness share similarities, they are very different practices at their core. Alicia describes breathwork as a more active journey towards a meditative state. The goal is to journey deep into your subconsciousness, shut down your prefrontal lobe and open yourself up to new insight. In Alicia’s words, “it’s like talk therapy but without the talking.” As a breathwork specialist, Alicia prioritizes clients’ self-discovery, recognizing in themselves things previously unacknowledged through their practice. Alicia encourages anyone who is interested in furthering their personal growth to explore the practice of breathwork.

Using breathwork, individuals can silence their inner critic and connect with their mind, body, and spirit. While this can be a scary, overwhelming process, Alicia is there to help and does so by creating a safe and healing space where clients can freely express any emotion that rises to the surface. When asked, why should I do breathwork? Alicia answered simply: “you should do breathwork so you can become the person you have always wanted to be.” Step out of your comfort zone and into the unknown with Alicia as your guide.
